He became a famous personality because he was the founder of Ramoji film city and also he was the founder of Telugu newspaper Eenadu. He was successful at various sectors such as he was a Media baron, Industrialist and a film producer.

Ramoji’s parents gave him a name Ramayya inspired from the name of his grandfather. He was born 13 days after his grandfather’s death. So they took his name from his grandfather’s name, but he did not like his name. That’s why he changed his name in his school life as Cherukuri Ramoji Rao.

Ramoji Rao was born in a middle class family in Andhra Pradesh. His fathers name was Venkata Subborao. His mothers name was Venkatasubbamma. He had two sisters named Rajyalaxmi and Ranganayakamma. He got married to Tatineni Rama devi. They both get blessed with two sons. His elder son’s name is Kiran Prabhakar and his younger son name was Suman Prabhakar he died on 7 september 2012 because of Leukemia.

Ramoji Rao Career  

At an early age Ramoji started struggling in the advertising firm, in 1950, Ramoji shifted to Delhi. After 15 years of struggle he started an advertising firm in his elder son’s name, KiranAds, in 1965. Later on he started an outdoor advertising agency. He was successful at various sectors such as he was a Media baron, Industrialist and a film producer.

Ramoji is also a film producer and he makes lots of films in different-different languages such as in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali and in Kannada. He received various awards for his various creations and making his name alive in the entertainment industry. 

In 1974, Ramoji started his own newspaper creation in Telugu named Eenadu and the first edition of that newspaper was released on 10 August 1974. His newspaper is published in Visakhapatnam and the people get the newspaper in the afternoon that was sended by the post to the people of visakhapatnam. Ramoji bought a second hand printing machine in 96000 and started his own printing press and his newspaper became the largest Telugu newspaper and covers the 30-40 lakh newspaper circulation. 

In 1962 Ramoji started a Margadarsi chit fund from his wedding money and that became the biggest chit fund company in India. Later on he started the various fertilizer companies in India.

Ramoji Rao received several awards for his creation in the tollywood industry such as mentioned below :  

• He received his first award, Nandi Awards for Kanchana Ganga in 1984 for the best feature film. 
• In 1985 for Pratighatna, best Telugu film at filmfare awards. 
• Again in 1985 he received an award for Mayuri, Nandi awards in the golden category. 
• In 1989 he received an award for Mouna poratam, Nandi awards in the silver category.
• In 1991, he received an award for Aswini, Nandi awards in the bronze category.
• In 1992, he received an award for Teja best children film, Nandi awards in the golden category.
• In 2000, he received an award for Nuvve kavali as best telugu film at filmfare awards. 
• Again in 2000 he received a national award for Nuvve kavali best film producer. 
• In 2004, he received an award for lifetime achievement in south cinema at filmfare award. 
• In 2016, he received Padma vibhushan by the government of India.
